everyone wants design
It turns out, everyone enjoys good design. I myself have never been opposed to
buying clothing from any store, regardless of name, but I have to admit that sometimes it can be more than frustrating trying to find your size or the origin of the misplaced item or waiting in the mile long lines while people are purchasing enough toilet paper to last for 3 years or junkfood in bulk. According to this article in WWD, some of these mass merchants are considering coming to cities (double yea!!!) but to do so they have to up the ante in terms of store design and presentation. I'm all for that -- the only thing I miss about New Jersey was being able to head down the road to my local target/BB&B,B&N/Michaels mega center.......not that I want Manhattan to turn into the suburbs (even though it's already happening, been to Union Square lately?) but sometimes, it would be nice to not have to run to 5 different stores.
