ohh cameron.....

ElizIf you're not a devout Cameron Crowe fan, such as myself, you may not know that he has a new film coming out in October, Elizabethtown.  The soundtrack is available in our library and through Itunes, and it's wonderful.  I highly suggest doing some catch-up on Crowe, if you have missed any of his films, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Say Anything, Singles, Jerry McGuire, Almost Famous, and Vanilla Sky.  What I wouldn't give to have a latte and a chat with that man.

now in production......

038550926x01_sclzzzzzzz_Being late to an appointment is never a good thing, even if it is NYC, and traffic and train delays go with the territory......stuck in gridlock on West 39th street, in a cab I barely managed to catch, my annoyance immediately faded when I saw that the blocked road was due to all of the production equipment necessary for shooting a film and that the name emblazoned in red on on the black directors chairs read, The Devil Wears Prada........which I found out will be starring Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, Anne Hathaway as Andrea, and the adorable Adrian Grenier (aka Vincent Chase on Entourage) as Nate.........all of my recent favorite books are turning into movies.......look for IN HER SHOES on October 7 in theaters.

As good as it gets...

21In case you didn't know, today is the last day of fashion week in New York, meaning that all of the "important" designers gather together to display what they are doing for the upcoming season, in this case, Spring 2006.  For the past 14 years, I have been devouring Vogue, Elle, W, Bazzaar, WWD, and anything else fashion related that I can get my hands on.  I have watched hours of fashion shows on television, watched recaps of fashion shows, interviews with fashion designers, and every red carpet event possible just to see what is going on in that world.

Thanks to a very generous designer friend of mine, Natasha Ulyanov, I was able to attend my first fashion show, J Mendel, yesterday afternoon.  After years of following these events and never actually being there, I cannot articulate the wave of emotion that I felt.  It's difficult to explain my love of fashion and its history, but yesterday one thing was absolutely clear to me: this is my passion.  Being around it makes me happy.  Of course it is a completely frivolous and petty industry at times, but overall, fashion is like sculpture, something that should be preserved in museums for generations to come because it speaks volumes about what is going on in our world, sometimes by what it says and sometimes by what it doesn't.  If you have ever studied the history of fashion, or any type of art history, it is remarkable what you will learn about the state of the world during that time period.

Check out some of the new spring lines, there are some extraordinary clothes coming soon........Gwen Stefani is debuting her L.A.M.B. collection tonight at 8 pm.

real bags - finally

Dsc01723_1after many many weeks (read months) of working with pattern makers, procuring materials and trekking across manhatten (and actually the country), we have finally gotten back samples for all of our designs.  there are still many tweaks that need to be made, but it is so nice to finally have something other than felt pullovers and sketches to describe our bags.
