At Freddy&Ma we have a soft spot for the French. During our university years, Freddy&Ma trekked to Europe one summer and despite a train pass allowing us to travel all through Europe, we spent most of our time in France. Specifically Paris. More specifically watching Robert Altman films by day and eating TexMex by night. It was a fun trip. Needless to say we left with a love of all things French but not a syllable of the language. Which is a shame b/c someone spent a lot of time making the picture in this post and writing about F&M. Can someone please comment with a translation por favor? If anyone would like to buy one of these creations, let us know and we will gladly create one for you :-)
Usually, I detest movies turned into books, they're just awful, a la the Da Vinci code, the Firm, .....ok, Bridgette Jones was kind of cute......maybe this one is going to be great, if anything just to see the amazing wardrobe.......The Devil Wears Prada looks really cute from the preview. Buy your tickets early, if it rains this weekend, you're gonna be out of luck.
.....my makeup artist? does that count? ok, sorry, (d) all of the above. We just wanted to send a little
love to our friend Tanya Rae the fabulous artist that made our faces look so amazing in our recent photo shoot.........her portfolio is fantastic and we can't wait to work with her again.........pass it on
The weather in NYC is not so lovely as of late....when the humidity is weighing you down literally, it's tough to make much of an effort on the fashion front.....everything is sticky and uncomfortable and walking 6 blocks leaves you looking like you just ran a 5K.......I find that light cotton dresses are about the only thing wearable in this sultry heat. I just ordered this Anthropologie shift because it has a cool retro vibe and lets me show off one of my favorite versions of our Bowler. I pair it with these comfy Urban flats & Sunglasses. If I can't feel cool I at least want to look it ; )
we have been recieving a steady stream of mentions in various places online...check them out.
apologies to everyone for the shortage of new information! my apartment is under construction which means i can do nothing but sleep there and there's been quite a hustle on the PR front to get some bags to celebrities so things have been beyond hectic.....but have no fear, bags of the day will be resuming shortly along with my new apartment (i hope).
So it turns out that the soon to be launched Freddy&Ma retail division is timed perfectly with a growing trend among shops around the country, the desire to sell exclusive items.
From an article in last Friday's Wall Street Journal by Cheryl Lu-Lien Tan:
Boutiques are making a big push into the exclusives game, which until recently was mostly the province of large retailers. From Intermix, a 12-store chain based in New York, to Kitson, a Los Angeles shop with a large Hollywood clientele, they're demanding -- and getting -- designers to create items for them to market as unique to their stores. In some cases, they're persuading designers to depart from their established looks.
The boutiques say they need exclusives to stand out because so many brands they sell are also carried by high-end department stores and other small retailers.
Wait till they see all the custom options offered by Freddy&Ma!!!! We plan on offering exclusive colorways and leathers to stores so that their buyers can create something truly unique for their clientele and offer something that the store down the block doesn't carry. It should make for some great shopping this fall in your favorite boutique :-)
