new prints by kim gledhill and inigo elizalde

Inigo Our designers have done an incredible job of creating amazing prints for this fall/winter season.  Hitting on some of the hottest trends like romantic gothic and edgy plaid, IKim_1 haven't seen much on the market to rival their work.  Kim's zigzag print has a very Missoni-esque quality to it and Inigo's animal/plaid combinations immediately made me think of Gwen Stefani and the preppy/sexy mood of a Catholic school uniform.  Inigo's dark and romantic birds will carry you well into next spring where the aviary Fm trend is going to stay strong.  I'm also quite fond of my peacock print as well, it's subtle, fun and sexy.

how (ir)relevant is the stylist?

Rachelzoe There has been a lot of talk in the celeb world about stylist Rachel Zoe and her influence on style/infamous clients.  While I'm not going to completely defend her and her suspicious skinny ways,  I am going to say that stylists actually DO work very hard, (having assisted several of them which is by far the most challenging job I have ever had) and are responsible for starting trends or at least pushing trends (i.e. street style) in front of the masses by dressing prominent celebrities which are in the spotlight and therefore in our faces.  Try this; take a look at red carpet photos from 5,6,7 years ago and notice what the actresses are wearing......95% of them cannot dress themselves to save their lives;  the only reason they are "style icons" is because someone (their stylist) is dressing them.  Just my thoughts for the day.

Freddy&Ma on TV

Freddy&Ma bags showcased in a segment on body types and handbags. Watch Ma on the WB Morning News this July as she talks about the best bag to wear with your body type. Don't laugh ; )

my hour at the post office & cute outfit

Picture_2 The Post Office never dissappoints in providing a lengthy, annoying andPhoto_122_1 time-wasting experience.  Lucky for me, today was no exception.  Have you ever seen the movie Love Actually, and there's that scene where Alan Rickman is trying to buy a necklace for his secretary without his wife seeing him and the clerk is played by Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) and he takes an excessively long and dramatic time wrapping up the necklace?  Well, that was me today trying to ship a Freddy&Ma bag to London.  I was biting the insides of my mouth to keep from laughing as the man measured and remeasured my box, peeled away the label backing very s-l-o-w-l-y and put stamps and stickers all around.  It was quite dramatic.
In other news, apparently I am wearing a cute outfit today.  It's comprised of a dress from Urban which could easily be misunderstood as a maternity top, tights from Duane Reade that I converted to leggings because the 5 pair of proper leggings I own are all MIA, a short sleeved thermal from Forever 21 that barely escaped the "I refuse to wear cheap clothing anymore" pile 2 weeks ago, boots from Ebay, and necklaces that my mom bought me at a thrift store in North Carolina.  I am also sporting my "I don't have time to deal with my hair" hairdo and no makeup.  Despite all of this, I have not gotten this many catcalls since I had blond hair and I even heard several girls comment to their friends that I had a cool outfit on.  This pleases me to no end, especially since I was not fully aware of my state of cool.  Only in NYC.

new from amy holdsworth

Picture_82 New online today, a very cool print from Amy Holdsworth......this bag works in all seasons and the print comes in a beautiful gold and deep green colorway.  You can view all of Amy's work by sorting the patterns by designer.

stop the insanity!

Freddy sent me this article today and we felt it was particularly relevant to F&M V0pmsb87_1
and the message we want to send.  PLEASE READ!
In Spain they are putting restrictions on models requiring that they meet a BMI of at least 18.  They feel that the fashion industry has a responsibility to portray a healthy image and that the use of waif-like models contributes to eating disorder and poor body image.

Photo_109 the blog has been a bit sparse in recent days, I know, but let me fill you in on what's been happening in recent weeks - (see me sleeping and returning calls simultaneously)

huge disappointment

Lamba1035512010_201x396 I've been stalking a certain L.A.M.B. dress for many months now.  I finally had the opportunity to try on said dress last weekend and suffered a huge disappointment....now, I tend to always be a size 6/8 although I feel certain stores like Banana Republic, Anthropologie, etc make their sizes a bit generous, so let's play it safe and say size 8.....I am not skinny by any means but a size 8 rarely breaks my heart.....
