now and later

We're still in the questionable weather phase and I'm itching to wear my bright spring dresses, but alas, we're just not quite there yet.......I love these 2 options and this sexy chain print on our hobo works no matter what Mother Nature is up to!

F&M at wee citizens

Featureimage_070424_01We were featured today on a site called 'wee citizens'.  In addition to saying thanks to them for the nice words about Freddy&Ma custom handbags, I have to say I was VERY impressed with their website.  It is visually stunning, has a great name and some interesting content, I highly recommend checking it out.  So nice to see beautifully executed  design thinking :-)  I even love the little graphic they made showing some great examples of our Ronson Tote!

turn your plastic bags into handbags

Cimg1749When you open your kitchen cabinet, do you have a ton of old plastic grocery bags?  We definitely do.   Starting in a month or so, Freddy&Ma is going to be offering a very unique product that is partially MADE from all those old bags under your sink.  We have figured out a way to turn old bags into a very cool fabric like material.  The picture on the left is a section of the material made from two Trader Joe's bags we had lying around.  It feels a lot like those indestructible FEDEX mailers and has a very cool layered appearance.

The plan is that you will mail us about 20 bags which we will magically turn into the fabric to be used on a Freddy&Ma Metro clutch.  It is a very labor intensive process and we are going to charge around $150.00 for the bag, but you will have an incredibly unique product.  Let us know if you are interested and we can put you on the pre-order list.  Stay tuned to the blog for updates on this product, we should have sample bag pictures in a few weeks.

well hello, mr. green jeans!

Levis It’s hard to find good jeans for under $100 these days, let alone jeans that are made from 100% organic cotton. Enter the new Levis eco Jeans. They have a super cute Skinny style and start at just $59!

ma would like you to know that she does not waste paper

Ever. In a long-ago previous life as a retail shop girl, Ma once helped construct a window display that featured reams and reams of spotless pink paper. When it came time to take the display down, Ma watched in horror as the paper was almost tossed into the garage.

Ma dutifully rescued the paper from a dumpstery fate and, to this day, writes notes on lovely, pale-pink paper.

lean & green

Did you know that Freddy&Ma is lean?
By utilizing lean manufacturing, F&M creates very little waste. Orders are made as they come in, so there are never any left-overs. And as our bags are made locally in the tri-state area, we limit our fuel & shipping needs.

the grass is greener over here!

We love all the eco-conscious press that comes out this time of year, from the Vanity Fair green issue to the March Domino Magazine issue on natural living. In honor of April, we’ve put together a few stylish reasons why, yes, every day should be Earth Day.

be yourSELF

Check out one of our favorite prints from Heather Palmeri in the May issue of Self Magazine.

easy, breezy

Drew411 Some girls make it look so, well, easy! We think Drew Barrymore has been looking so cute lately. No wonder she has been named the new face of CoverGirl Cosmetics. We also love that the brainy Ms. Barrymore will put her considerable two cents in as the co-creative director of the ad campaign. Look for the TV spot early next year.

are we there yet?

This time of year is always a challenge because you feel spring in your bones and yet, the weather outside says otherwise.  I start to sneak in new spring dresses by layering cute thermals and cardigans and wearing tights and boots.......and of course a freddy&ma bag with a groovy print by Joy!
