This lovely photo was taken at a wedding where the bridesmaids were all given a Freddy&Ma handbag. The bags looked amazing when we sent them out and we were extremely surprised to get back this beautiful image from Bello Photography, the amazingly talented photo group who shot this wedding.

We have just added a new feature to this blog that we think many of you will like. In the upper right hand corner, note the small box that says 'talk to us'. Assuming we are online, which is 23 out of every 24 hours, you can instant message us. This great little service is offered for free by Meebo, we recommend checking them out if you spend as much time during the day IM'ing as we do.
We are thinking about implementing something similar on our main site, but thought the blog would be a good place for a trial run.

When we designed the F&M website, we created a little item on the lower left hand corner of the homepage that allows people to see the last 4 bags created in our configurator by customers. On busy days you can keep refreshing your browser window all day long and watch a cascade of unique designs flow by. This morning I was roaming around our site and when I went back to the front page I saw these 4 great bags. It is amazing how deep in our print catalog some customers go! This might explain why we have only sold the exact same bag (all custom options the same) twice.
In today's Wall Street Journal, there is a great article that talks about the future of fashion involving the customizatoin of luxury goods. Tom Ford, of Gucci fame, says the following:
Today, however, consumers no longer want to have the same thing at the same time. "Now everybody wants to have something different," Mr. Ford says. "A woman doesn't necessarily want the same bag her friend has. That is part of the appeal of vintage fashion -- you don't see yourself coming and going. It's something that you found."
This is exactly the same thinking we had when we started Freddy&Ma. Nice to see a designer with as much clout as Tom Ford agrees with us!
the last two weeks have been very busy at Freddy&Ma. We have been quite a few custom trunk shows lately and are very excited that this portion of our business continues to buiild. For the uninitiated, F&M trunk shows involve clients coming to our showroom in NYC and designing bags. We set up lots of computers and also have tons of sample bags.......
We know that with our myraid of patterns and styles, designing a Freddy&Ma bag can be a bit daunting. So many choices, so little money left on the credit line. If you are feeling a bit indecisive, let us help. Send us an email with some themes you are interested in, styles you like or even a picture of something you would like a bag to compliment and we will mail you back a handful of styles from which to choose. The same styling genius that brings you the bag of the day posts will be the one creating designs just for you. Creating a new look couldn't be any easier :-)
our first production run since launching Freddy&Ma has shipped!!! Every bag that was ordered turned out great and interestingly enough, no two bags were the same. Our second production run is filling up fast so order soon if you want a bag ASAP. And if you are cruising around F&M, be sure to check out the prints by our newest designer A16, they look great!
as we prepare our press kit all sorts of neat documents are being created showcasing the incredible variety of bags available through Freddy&Ma. It is crazy to think that this picture shows just 49 versions of the bowler bag; there are a few hundred thousand versions of this bag that can be designed on our site! And remember, if you ever have trouble deciding on a style, you can always contact us, we are happy to give out our opinions on such things :-)
