Little bit of trivia about me...I LOVE/ADORE/IDOLIZE Stevie Nicks. Her style and her voice have always inspired me. The longer I live out west, the more I allow my bohemian/hippie side to emerge.  Aside from my fringe and arrowhead obsession, I've been collecting lots of long vintage indian cotton skirts and dresses that I cannot wait to wear this summer and on my trip to Spain in a month. 

A friend from NYC posted this video of Stevie several months ago and I haven't been able to get it out of my head since then. Thanx Turner :) You'll wanna watch this one over and over.

 

to the point

One of many things I'm obsessed with lately, vintage arrowhead pendants. I've barely worn silver for years but these are my current staples.  Since moving west, I've felt my wardrobe choices starting to shift away from "cool and chic" (at least that's what I attempted) and more towards bohemian cowgirl...I'm craving anything with fringe, long prairie like skirts and leather. I recommend Etsy and Ebay. Bah! Lame post, I'm warming up ok!

I'm the worst blogger in the world. Taking a month off is no way to increase my readership. I have a good excuse!! Sort of. I did 5 shoots in one month, still catching up. As I was slogging thru a daunting pile of mail, I did manage to flip thru my new Bazaar and stumble upon this amazing article about a new book, photographs by Linda McCartney.  I'm a bit of a closet romantic, and the story of Linda and Paul really moves me. I pre-ordered my copy HERE.

This past Thursday, I attended the opening film of the Boulder International Film Festival, Troubadours, a documentary about Doug Weston's infamous Troubadour club in Los Angeles and the relationship between the club, James Taylor and Carole King. Fascinating - moving - warm - funny - beautiful. I can't say enough good things about the film.

New blog category: places that inspire me. In 2009, I fell in love with the ACE Hotel in New York and when we started planning our 2010 wedding in California, I knew that we had to somehow incorporate the ACE Palm Springs into our plans. We had a mini honeymoon there and came home relaxed and incredibly inspired. Their decor was the perfect mix of vintage industrial and southwest with clean, simple materials...aka, an example of how my husband and I could blend our very different styles. We are still working on our home, but have acquired a few key pieces, like our lineberry cart and saarinen table, while building our succulent and rug collection.  Fantastic article about the ACE hotels HERE.

love story

big bang theory

Bangs have always been a sensitive issue for me...I think that the biggest fight my mother and I ever had was over growing out my bangs, which at that point had been permed for the better part of 3 years so that I could wear them nice and puffy...regardless, after years of the sideswept "faux" bangs, I made the chop last week.  Not only are they fresh, youthful and kinda sexy, they also allow me to go for much longer periods of time between highlights as they disguise my (gasp!!) grey hair. Yikes.
