In 4th grade, the word on the street was:

"Buffalo Buffalo Buffalo Buffalo Buffalo." Which is to say Buffalo (the animals) from Buffalo (the city) buffalo (meaning to bully or intimidate) other Buffalo (the animals) from Buffalo (the city). Amazing but true!  You can read all about this amazing phenomenon here.

Pillow of the Day!

I'm dreaming of a white living room. Unfortunately, I'd probably get in trouble for painting the wood floors in my rental apartment (sigh!), but this very affordable chandelier from Bellacor and peekabo clear coffee table are definite possiblities. Some F&M pillows, with print by Michelle Mason, add a necessary dose of color to a Petrie sofa.

when life gives you lemons.......part II

buy a guitar and learn how to play it!  easier said than done.  we bought the guitars (easy part).....needless to say, freddy with his gnarled hands (due to years of climbing) is far better than me and is already playing songs while i am still trying to play the G chord properly!  holding down those strings is really uncomfortable and i still haven't quite figured out the way I'm supposed to be positioning the instrument......but we have another lesson next week.....so stay tuned readers, soon you may be hearing about freddy&ma the band

Obama for president

At Freddy&Ma we are very politically minded.  We tend to have very passionate views on all things political and some of us (Freddy) tend to be quite vocal about many issues.  Our Vote Totes were just a small example of our political mindedness (and our message is spreading far and wide with both Urban Outfitters and W Hotels now selling the bags!)

That all being said, we would like to say that we have decided to officially announce that Freddy&Ma is endorsing Barack Obama for president of the United States.  While probably not as effective as Oprah's endorsement, hopefully at least a few people will hear about this and want to find more about why we feel as strongly about his candidacy as we do.  This article does a great job of explaining our view.

And if you do not support our opinion, that is fine and dandy, just make sure you get out and VOTE !  We have no problem with different political opinions as long as the person supporting them heads to the polls next November (and whenever their states primary elections are) to cast a ballot.

Dropping the Ball

Some sparkly New Year's Eve eye candy for a Wednesday morning. I like all these options, but I'm not really in love with anything. And I have to find the perfect outfit this year because I'll be living it up in LA. And you know everyone else is going to look amazing. 

Hanii Y Shawl dress with Bow: super cute shape but gray?!?! if only this dress was bright and sparkly blue...

Lux Sequin Dress: Seems very New Year's appropriate but its sort of like a t-shirt with sequins

American Apparel Cross Front Dress: The fact that an American Apparel dress even made it onto this list is testament enough to my frustrations. Its also about as comfortable as hospital scrubs.

Silk Taffeta Parlour Skirt: This skirt is pretty fabulous and it comes in a stunning array of sparkly colors. Just need to find a top for it...

Elizabeth Halter: Big fan of the ruffled collar, and can you tell this shirt has pockets? It does. I promise. But there's no way I could wear it with the silk taffeta parlour skirt. Their sparkly-ness would clash.

Either way, these Chap Cream Patent Pumps from Steve Madden, are the apple of my eye.

when life gives you lemons......

buy some self help books! Read them and then actually remember what you read.....try to apply it to your life.........sadly while rereading one of my favorites this weekend I realized that I had scored a six out of six on the list of things to do that will make your partner essentially feel like crap and cause one to be alone on xmas and new years eve.  Bah humbug.  So, as an early holiday present to myself I ordered some other fun titles due to arrive by Wednesday.....He's Scared, She's Scared, highly recommended to me by a friend who has never opened his copy and also something else that seemed interesting called Make Up, not Break Up........seems like cheerful holiday reading to me!  I'll let y'all know if they help me out or not. 

Feltidermy

I've been on the lookout for a stag or moose head for a while now, you know, to mount to the wall for some old fashioned log cabin appeal. But finding the perfect animal cranium is harder than it sounds. I couldn't possibly live with an actual taxidermied animal in my living room, nor can I rationalize shelling out the $400 for these carved wood versions, from Velocity Art & Design, lovely as they are.
